The question is embedded in a bigger research question “Self-healing in Self-organizing Networks” - and if I was still only researching it in computer networks, I might be more confident about potential directions.
In networks of humans and machines, language and code, I may be inclined to say:
Definitely with each person.
And now zooming out a bit more considering those networks, too, are embedded in Spaceship Earth, today, I hypothesize:
with the environment.
In context.
[continue this thread with so what? and then what? for what? why? - when/why does it become dysfunctional, e.g. metaphor of an ant mill, is it sufficient to know/understand? what about experience and felt experience? how can such dysfunction be self-healed? back to self-healing in self-organizing networks]
My sense is that following the thread in one specific domain (maybe protocols?) as best you can will give you the ability to make more powerful analogies in various others. Of course, you pick a thread and will find the whole universe attached, but following that single thread over long periods of time allows for you to make more impactful discoveries about the nature of its interbeing with everything else.
Really good! I’m trying to follow as much as possible; and already in their halfway retrospect, they too are asking similar questions:
" > Our challenge in this program is not just to study this emerging protocolized mode of post-industrial technological and cultural production, but to learn to embody it ourselves. As you work on whatever specific project you design for yourself, we hope you will also reflect on this mode of production, and think about how it is similar or different to existing modes of production, and how to make it work better.
Much more than the impact of the SoP depends on this question. This mode of technological and cultural production is what is going to build the world of tomorrow. The Summer of Protocols program is only one small effort in the broader landscape of tens of thousands of Random People in Nebraska around the world, trying to figure out how to work this way, to tackle everything from climate change to dealing with AI"
Dear @salim , thank you for this question. Indeed there is, but there are so many angles and threads I wouldn’t know which one to chose to start and weave with.
I believe now this question is very central for deciding how to flatten the tensor :))
I’ll get back to you on that one for sure.
In the meantime, I’d like to share this:
